These terms of service (“Terms,” “Terms and Conditions,” “Terms of Service”) govern your access to and usage of the Monstronomicon (“the Monstronomicon,” “Monstronomicon,” “Moncon,” “(the) Site,” “we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you are agreeing to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to the following Terms, you may not use the Site.

Purpose of the Site

The Monstronomicon is a free, fan-run organizational tool designed to assist its users in managing and presenting fan-made creative projects, often known as “Classes,” inspired by My Singing Monsters.

The site aims to reduce the tedium of manual organization (such as through a slideshow or spreadsheet by providing a dedicated program allowing users to:

• Create and manage bestiaries (private or public collections of data which include monsters, memory sounds, biographies, and related metadata)
• Automatically organize island rosters based on element inputs
• Serve as an interactive fan kit and reference hub
• Act as an interactive and collaborative class development tool
• Support long-term organization and iteration

The Monstronomicon functions strictly as a platform and tool. We do not claim ownership or creative control over any user-created projects hosted on our site, including the content within said projects.

Fan Projects & Intellectual Property Disclaimer

The Monstronomicon is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project.

• The Monstronomicon is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or associated with Big Blue Bubble
• All official My Singing Monsters names, designs, music, and intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners
• All original user-submitted content is fanmade and provided for creative and community purposes only
• Users are able to donate to the project to help with site upkeep costs (Elaborated on in Section 8: Cost, Monetization, and Supporter Features); donations are purely optional and are not required for site access

Accounts and Account Authentication

In order to access some features of the Monstronomicon, chiefly creating bestiaries and uploading galleries, an account is required. Account authentication and user data storage are handled through Google Firebase, including third-party login providers such as Discord.

When creating an account, the following information may be recorded:

• The email associated with the login
• If logging in with Discord, Discord shares the email of the associated account to the database
• The country associated with the login

The Monstronomicon does NOT record:

• The full name of the user, unless the user includes their name in their email
• Age or gender
• Any email, Discord, or Gmail passwords
• Any personal information such as address, phone number, etc

No information is shared, sold, or otherwise used for purposes beside logging in and user analytics.

Data Storage & Hosting

The Monstronomicon is hosted via a private GitHub repository system and deployed using Vercel.

• User accounts, content, and metadata are all held exclusively and securely within Google Firebase
• External media, such as YouTube or Google Drive links, are hosted by their respective platforms and governed by their own Terms of Service
• The Monstronomicon does not claim responsibility nor jurisdiction for any content hosted offsite and embedded within our platform

User-Created Content & Ownership

Users may write, manage, and upload fan-made creative content, including but not limited to fanmade characters (“monsters”), classes, islands, songs, and written lore.

• Users maintain full ownership of all original content they submit
• The Monstronomicon will never ask for ownership of uploaded content and does not claim ownership of user projects, concepts, or creative works
• By submitting content to the Site, users grant the Monstronomicon a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within the Site and its social medias for the purpose of functionality, community access, and displaying development processes
• The Monstronomicon does not assess or validate any fan classes as official or canonical works.

Prohibited Content & Moderation

Users may not upload, publish, or otherwise share content on the Monstronomicon that:

• Is hateful, harassing, or threatening towards an individual or group
• Is sexually explicit or pornographic in nature
• Is excessively violent or graphic
• Is illegal or otherwise promotes illegal activity
• Is plagiarized (stolen) or falsely attributed
• Intentionally impersonates Big Blue Bubble, other brands, or Monstronomicon staff
• Contains content from or is created by a user who has been blacklisted

The Monstronomicon reserves the right to:

• Review user-submitted content which violates these Terms
• Restrict or remove access to content for violating any of the above
• Including restricting or removing access to content without a disclosed reason on a case-by-case basis
• Suspend or delete accounts for serious or repeated violations
• Take reasonable actions to protect the community and the integrity of the Monstronomicon platform

Ultimately, moderation decisions are made in good faith by the Monstronomicon staff and are at the discretion of the Monstronomicon staff entirely. The Monstronomicon is not obligated to provide advanced notice prior to content removal or account restriction, although efforts may be made when appropriate.

Users acknowledge that the Monstronomicon is not responsible for monitoring all content hosted on its site and does not guarantee that objectionable material will always be identified or removed in a timely manner.

Artificial Intelligence Usage

Generative artificial intelligence (encompassed by “AI”) tools may be used by Monstronomicon to assist with internal site development and infrastructure maintenance. Such use may include but is not limited to coding support, debugging, testing, documentation, feature maintenance, and user-facing text or system messaging. Artificial intelligence tools are used solely as development aids and do not replace human oversight or creative decision-making.

Cost, Monetization, and Supporter Features

The Monstronomicon was created as and will remain a free-to-use platform.

• There are no advertisements on the site currently
• Optional Supporter Features, granted by donating to the site, are purely cosmetic and offer no exclusive tools, functionality, or access restrictions
• Donations can be made to support the Monstronomicon through Ko-Fi and Patreon
• Both of these sites have their own terms and conditions that are separate from these Terms; users are at the jurisdiction of these services for transactional services and other services provided
• No existing features are paywalled
• Supporter status does not exempt a user from any of our Terms, including Section 8

Availability, Reliability, & Disclaimer

The Monstronomicon is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

While reasonable efforts are made to maintain functionality, data integrity, and a smooth user experience:

• Continuous availability, uninterrupted service, and permanent data storage is not guaranteed
• Features, tools, or functionality may be modified, disabled, or removed at any time and without advanced notice
• User data, content, or accounts may be lost due to technical failures, maintenance, or otherwise unforeseen circumstances

The Monstronomicon, to the fullest extent of the law, disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Users assume all responsibility for their usage of the Site and are encouraged to maintain their own local backups of important content. The Monstronomicon is not responsible for backing up any user-submitted content.

Changes to These Terms

The Monstronomicon reserves the right to update, revise, or otherwise modify these Terms at any time to reflect changes in its functionality, legal requirements, operational practices, or other conditions.

• Updates will take effect upon being posted to the Site
• Continued use of the Monstronomicon after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms
• Users are responsible for reviewing the Terms periodically and at their own discretion
• If a user does not agree to the updated Terms, they must cease usage of the Site.

Verification

Users of the Monstronomicon who meet certain requirements set by the Monstronomicon may achieve Verified status. Verification serves as a way to enable additional tools for creators.

• MonCon reserves the right to add additional perks to Verification, as well as redact perks, at its own discretion
• Perks may be added or removed at any given point in time, for maintenance, infrastructural, or otherwise undisclosed reasons
• MonCon reserves the right to remove the Verification status from an account if said user attempts to impersonate another (and/or otherwise violate any of these Terms)
• MonCon also reserves the right to Verify and Unverify users at its own discretion
